magazine conventions

Main image: The image is a medium close up of the band the editor will have done this because it suits the style you don’t want to see just their heads in a music magazine and you can see their tattoos which would appeal to some that read the magazine.
Masthead: lets the reader know the name of the magazine. It it White and stands out against the background images. It goes along the top which catches your eye better than it being stuck in a corner.
Main cover line: “the uncovered story of a rock phenomenon” this is short but holds a lot on content. Uncensored is highlighted which makes you look at it more because you think it is important.
Bar code & price: these are on every magazine and usually in the bottom right of the magazine. This is a convention you are definitely going to see on every magazine.
Footer:  the footer is the bottom part of the magazine that usually has information about what is going to be in the magazine. In this magazine its black which contrasts with the white main image.
Cover lines: these are to show what some of the contents is. The band one of the cover lines is wrote in red it stands out against the black because on the bottom it is the only red writing on the bottom.
Left third: on this magazine there isn’t much going on it because of a cd attached to the front of it.  But up at the top it shows you another cover line and is wrote in a dialogue that would familiarise with younger people.
